Cluster of mica grains in sedimentary rock. This small fragment of mica-rich rock was deposited in a shallow lake about 225 million years ago. The small white crystals are the mineral dolomite which grew in the rock after it was deposited. What most people see is a spaceship traversing the stars. Sometimes microphotos are just fun. Crossed polars, field of view 2.5 mm.
