Virginia Indian Festivals, Powwows, and Public Events

November

9-10:  Chickahominy Corn & John Smith event, Charles City County.  The Godspeed will retrace its “Journey of Survival”--a commemoration of Smith’s Nov. 1607 voyages to the Chickahominy people, in search of trading partners for corn.  The Chickahominy tribe will participate. 21:  Annual Tax Tribute to the Governor, Richmond, Governor’s Mansion, 10 a.m.  The Pamunkey and Mattaponi Tribes present tribute of deer and other game to the Virginia Governor as specified by the Treaty of 1646.  Contact: 804-769-2194.

December

TBA:  Annual Holiday Dinner, Virginia Indians Tribal Alliance for Life (VITAL), Chickahominy Tribal Grounds, Charles City County.  A friendly gathering, with a spectacular buffet.  Contact: Wayne Adkins, 804-932-4406.
