The museum is once again offering its Summer Adventure Camps for ages 3-14.  The 13, week-long, day camps introduce different age groups to different themes, ranging anywhere from nature exploration to engineering to sports!  Take a look at the offerings below and choose the perfect camp for your child today!

Registration forms and payments are due in advance. Please refer to deadlines for each camp.

Summer Adventure Camp Scholarship Program
Thanks to the VMNH Foundation, the Southwestern Piedmont Master Naturalists, and the Kiwanis Club, a limited number of scholarships are available. Scholarships will provide registration for one week of camp per applicant. To be considered, please complete the scholarship request form and the camp registration form and return them to the museum by the camp registration deadline.

Lunch Options
Lunch options: bring your own lunch; purchase lunch from our Paleo Cafe  ($4/day or $20/week); or, participate in the free summer lunch program graciously provided by the Pittsylvania County Community Action, Inc..

Campers should bring lunch and a water bottle to day–long camps. Campers may order lunch from the PALEO Cafe for $5 per day or $20 per week.

Before and After Camp Care
Need to drop off and/or pick up your camper before or after camp hours? No worries.

  • Before care: 8 – 9 a.m., $15/week
  • After care: 4 – 6 p.m., $30/week

Outdoor Adventurers
July 7-11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ages 6 to 8
Let’s put nature first! Adventurers will discover the natural treasures around VMNH and why it is important to care for the environment. Dress for the outdoors! Fee: $95 members/$105 non-members

Green Force: MHC Youth for Change
July 7-11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ages 12 to 14
Looking for a way to make a difference? To give back to the community? Join us for an incredible experience that will leave a lasting impression on your neighborhood, the environment, and most importantly you! Don’t pass up this opportunity to become a citizen for the environment!
Fee: $95 members/$105 non-members
Registration deadline: June 23

Doodle Bugs! Farm to Table
July 9-11, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Ages 3 to 5 with adult Join us on a journey from farm to table to find out where your food is coming from! We’ll explore the healthy and fun world of gardening and learn about the benefits to growing and eating your own farm fresh products!
Fee: $30 members/$35 non-members
Registration deadline: June 25

Make & Take
July 14-18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ages 6 to 8 What will life be like 50 years from now? Will robots rule? In this camp, you will design, build, and explore the perfect futuristic community. Bring an active imagination!
Fee: $135 members/$145 non–members
Registration deadline: June 30

Time Travelers
July 21-25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ages 9 to 11
It’s the ultimate summer adventure – a journey through time to uncover the mysteries of Martinsville and Henry County’s past! Explore local historic sites, examine authentic documents, and participate in a mock trial in a real court room. Come experience our area as it used to be. You may even uncover some family secrets of your own!
Fee: $95 members/$105 non–members

Green Team
July 28 - August 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ages 9 – 11
Do you enjoy spending time outside? Join us as we experience the beauty of our community green spaces and discover how important they are to us and future generations. It’s a summer adventure you can be proud of!
Fee: $95 members/$105 non–members

EngiSci Girls
August 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Ages 9 to 11
What happens when science and engineering collide? The world changes for the better! Discover phenomenal feats of female engineering greats and meet female scientists and educators. Explore the world of engineering and science through fun, exciting challenges designed just for girls.
Fee: $95 members/$105 non–members
Registration deadline: July 21

Doodle Bugs! - Nature Art
August 6-8 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Ages 3 to 5 with adult
Explore how nature can be used to make art! Learn how many different cultures of past and present use nature to create art and make your own art projects to take home! Fee: $30 members/$35 non-members
