The Virginia Museum of Natural History is seeking nominations through December 4, 2015 for the various awards to be presented at the 29th annual VMNH Foundation Thomas Jefferson Awards.  The state-wide awards ceremony will be held on March 24, 2016 at the historic Wayne Theater in Waynesboro, Virginia.

The VMNH Thomas Jefferson Awards ceremony is a statewide event that honors individuals and corporations for outstanding contributions to natural science and natural science education. 

Categories for nomination include:

Thomas Jefferson Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Natural Science:  This award is presented to an individual who has consistently made outstanding contributions to natural history.  

Thomas Jefferson Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Natural Science Education:  This award is presented to a Virginia educator who has made significant contributions to natural history or natural science education at any academic level.

William Barton Rogers Corporate Award:  This award is given to a corporation that has shown significant support for the natural sciences in Virginia, through contributions to the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

Matthew Fontaine Maury Distinguished Service Award: An individual or corporation that has provided exemplary service in the development of the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

Also to be awarded is:

The Thomas Jefferson Award for Conservation: This award is presented in recognition of significant conservation efforts in Virginia.
