It's barbecue, beer and...bugs! The museum is the place to be as we host "Bugs, Beer & BBQ". Enjoy a variety of beer choices, amazing barbecue from Checkered Pig, live music, and live animal displays from Infinity Acres. Register for the Corn Hole Tournament by September 23, and compete for museum prizes! 

VMNH curator to be featured in the British documentary, "Prehistoric Megabeasts: Croc vs Snake"

Dr. Alex Hastings, assistant curator of paleontology at the Virginia Museum of Natural History, will be featured in the documentary "Prehistoric Megabeasts: Croc vs Snake", scheduled to debut in the United Kingdom on the British public service television broadcaster, Channel 4, this Sunday at 8 p.m. BST.

VMNH taking part in Museums for All initiative

The museum is taking part in the Museums for All initiative, an IMLS program that provides discounted museum admission to low-income families.

The Great Wyoming Dinosaur Dig

VMNH researchers recently completed the "Great Wyoming Dinosaur Dig", a 3-week dinosaur fossil excavation in Wyoming in collaboration with Lynchburg College.
