MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Museum of Natural History is being
recognized for its exhibit on marine mollusks.
The Martinsville museum says its exhibit called "Wonders of the Deep" is a 2008 winner of the Southeastern Museums Conference Exhibition Award for exhibits with a budget of up to $25,000.
Exhibits from throughout the Southeast are judged in areas including design,
fabrication and educational programs.
The exhibit, which is on display until June, details marine mollusk life cycles and
fossil records as well as explains how they have influenced cultures. Specimens in the exhibit are from the Atlantic and Gulf Coastal Plains.
