Hitting the Trail
Last week the weather was good (not rainy and not too cold) during the class period (which starts at 7:45 AM!) of the juniors I’m working with at the Piedmont Governor's School for Mathematics, Science &Technology’s New College Institute site. So, we headed down to the nearby Silverbell trail, which is part of the Dick and Willie rail-trail system in Martinsville and Henry County. The students practiced their skills at habitat evaluation, identifying and photographing features of the forest vegetation near the trails. We all enjoyed the opportunity to get some fresh air and the chance to stretch our legs a bit.
