The Martinsville-Henry County Community Nature Initiative and

Martinsville Leisure Services held the Outdoor Fun Festival on Saturday, October 10 in J. Frank Wilson Park.  The free event featured organizations throughout the area offering fun and exciting activities and programs throughout the day in the park.

Organizations from around the area were on hand to provide participants hands-on activities and expose them to the numerous outdoor opportunities Martinsville and Henry County have to offer.  In addition, participants had the opportunity to try their hand at a rock climbing wall, defy gravity in a moon bounce, and view exotic animals.  Free prize drawings were also offered every hour, on the hour, starting at 11 a.m.

Participating organizations included ASPCA, Blue Ridge Ski and Outing Club, Dan River Basin Association, Exchange Club, Friends of Philpott, Henry County Parks and Recreation, Kids in the Valley Exploring, Martinsville Leisure Services, Martinsville Mustangs, Martinsville Fire and Rescue, Patrick Henry Community College, Purple Cow Dairy and Zoo, Southwestern Piedmont Master Naturalists, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Philpott, and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

Free festival admission was sponsored by The Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
