VMNH to host public sleepover on November 20-21
The Virginia Museum of Natural History is hosting a public sleepover at the museum from Friday, November 20 to Saturday, November 21 from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. The sleepover is open to ages 8-12 and offers many exciting, educational activities throughout the night, as well as a pizza dinner and continental breakfast in the morning.
Children and adults can enjoy the unique experience of sleeping inside the museum's Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont Great Hall and among the museum's resident and long-extinct creatures. Participants will sleep among a 140-million year old Allosaurus, a 14-million year old Eobalaenoptera - the museum's resident baleen whale suspended from the 40-foot ceiling - and a pteranodon, a 70-million year old flying reptile with a 20-foot wingspan. Sign-ups are currently being taken by calling the museum at 276-634-4185. A fee of $40 per participant is required. Adults are welcome to accompany their child. One adult per child.
