Dr. Elizabeth Moore recently presented a bone identification session to the Upper James River chapter of the Archeological Society of Virginia. Held at Washington and Lee University, chapter members learned about different types of bones and examined skeletons of several mammals and birds. Everyone then got to try their own hand at identifying a sample of animal remains from an archaeological site and discuss what those remains tell us about the past.
