� Congratulations to all of the recipients of this year's VMNH Foundation Thomas ...

� Congratulations to all of the recipients of this year's VMNH Foundation Thomas Jefferson Awards! Honorees were recognized last night at the museum during the 34th Annual Thomas Jefferson Awards ceremony sponsored by Bassett Furniture and Sovah Health.

Established in 1987, the Virginia Museum of Natural History Foundation Thomas Jefferson Awards is a statewide initiative that honors individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions to natural science, natural science education, and conservation. The awards, which are given annually, are named for Virginians, by birth or adoption, who have established traditions of excellence in the world of science and who have brought recognition and prestige to the Commonwealth. This year's awards and awardees were as follows:

W. BRUCE WINGO CONSERVATION AWARD
This award is presented to an individual or organization in recognition of significant conservation efforts in Virginia. This year's award was presented to Monogram Foods. The award was accepted by Pat Strickland, Vice President of Operations (front row, first on left).

THOMAS JEFFERSON MEDAL FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO NATURAL SCIENCE
This award is presented to an individual who has consistently made outstanding contributions to natural science in Virginia. This year's award was presented to Eric Hallerman, Ph.D., Professor within the Department of Fish and Wildlife Conservation at Virginia Tech (front row, second from left).

WILLIAM BARTON ROGERS CORPORATE AWARD
This award is presented to an organization that has shown significant support for the natural sciences in Virginia through support of the Virginia Museum of Natural History. This year's award was presented to Iridium Communications, Inc. The award was accepted by Kelli Sullivan, Public Relations Manager (front row, third from left).

THOMAS JEFFERSON MEDAL FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO NATURAL SCIENCE EDUCATION
This award is presented to a Virginia educator who has made significant contributions to natural science education at any academic level. This year's award was presented to two individuals, Brian Williams, Virginia Program Manager for the Dan River Basin Association (front row, 4th from left), and Krista Hodges Education Outreach Manager for the Dan River Basin Association (front row, 5th from left).

Congratulations to every one of this year's recipients and thank you all for your outstanding contributions to natural science, natural science education, and conservation!

FREE for children under 3, museum members, and members of ASTC participating institutions

My 4 year old son loves going to the museum. The exhibits are educational, interactive and kid-friendly.
