Think Small: An Insect Art Workshop with Nature Artist Suzanne Stryk
Look closer. See more. Draw what you discover!
About the Workshop
What can you discover when you look closely at something as small as a fly? On Friday, September 18, young artists ages 6–18 are invited to explore the fascinating miniature world of insects with renowned nature artist Suzanne Stryk!
(The workshop for ages 6-11 is from 10 to 11:30am and the workshop for ages 12-18 is from 1 to 2:30pm.)
Participants will put the techniques they learn during the workshop to practice!Suzanne will show participants how artists turn careful observation into art — from a quick sketch to a detailed study. Participants will also use stereoscopes to see insects up close, revealing tiny details that are almost impossible to see with the naked eye!
Along the way, they'll learn how artists record their observations through drawing and notes — and discover that there is far more to the natural world than meets the eye!
Come look closer. You never know what you'll discover!
Participants will learn to sketch insect drawings and take clever notes to enhance their observations.Registration is only $10 per participant...and that includes all materials! Space is limited for both sessions. Registration will end when all available spots are reserved or September 15, whichever comes first. Be sure to register before it's too late!
