Dr. Kal Ivanov, assistant curator of invertebrate zoology, participated in Longwood University's annual BioBlitz in Farmville yesterday. The community event is an opportunity for citizen scientists to identify and record the large variety of species living in the area, learn about the local wildlife and natural history, and explore the world around them.

After the BioBlitz, Dr. Ivanov and Dr. Steve Roble of the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (and longtime VMNH Research Associate) visited Difficult Creek Natural Area Preserve to explore some of its fire management areas, as well as collect insects.
