Dr. Nancy Moncrief, curator of mammalogy at VMNH, was the featured presenter during the final 2nd Thursday Science Talk of the season yesterday evening. During the presentation, Dr. Moncrief explained the genetic basis for squirrel coat coloration and how two different mutations can result in solid black squirrels.

The 2019-20 season of 2nd Thursday Science Talks begins in September! The free presentations give attendees a detailed look into some of the scientific research conducted by museum curators and research associates on a daily basis.
