The Virginia Museum of Natural History Foundation hosted the 32nd Annual Thomas Jefferson Awards ...

The Virginia Museum of Natural History Foundation hosted the 32nd Annual Thomas Jefferson Awards at Natural Bridge State Park on Thursday, March 21.

The awards ceremony is a statewide event that honors individuals and corporations for outstanding contributions to natural science, natural science education, and conservation.

Gerald V. Gibbs, Ph.D., University Distinguished Professor at Virginia Tech, was the recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Natural Science. The award is presented to an individual who has consistently made outstanding contributions to natural history.

Brooke Haiar, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Environmental Sciences at the University of Lynchburg, was the recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Medal for Outstanding Contributions to Natural Science Education. The award is presented to a Virginia educator who has made significant contributions to natural history or natural science education at any academic level.

William S. Henika, Geologist at Virginia Tech, was the recipient of the William Barton Rogers Individual Award. The award is presented to individuals who have shown significant support for the Virginia Museum of Natural History and for natural sciences in Virginia.

Norfolk Southern Foundation was the recipient of the Willam Barton Rogers Corporate Award. The award is given to an organization that has shown significant support for the natural sciences in Virginia through support of the Virginia Museum of Natural History.

$5 for ages 3-17, seniors 60+, and college students
FREE for children under 3, museum members, and members of ASTC participating institutions

My 4 year old son loves going to the museum. The exhibits are educational, interactive and kid-friendly.
