The VMNH paleo team made it at long last to the Sanford Museum & Planetarium. We packed up a rare and amazingly preserved pelvis of the giant sloth Megalonyx. This sloth lived across America, including Virginia & Iowa. This will be cast at VMNH to help make a full giant sloth skeleton for our exhibits. Great museum in Cherokee, Iowa!
Tuesday - Saturday: 10am - 4pm
Sunday: Noon to 4pm (Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend only)
Monday: Closed
$12 for ages 18-59
$6 for ages 3-17, seniors 60+, and college students
FREE for children under 3, museum members, members of ASTC Passport participating institutions, and EBT cardholders
My 4 year old son loves going to the museum. The exhibits are educational, interactive and kid-friendly.
