The Science of Flight Festival

Join us on Saturday, January 22 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the grand unveiling of the museum's newest special exhibit The Science of Flight, with special opening day flight-themed activities, including live birds of prey! This self-guided exhibit marks the first-ever VMNH special exhibit to be offered in both English and Spanish!

** Due to the potential of crowds this day, please note that the museum is requiring visitors to wear face coverings while inside the museum and that visitors should bring their own face coverings. Requirements may change. Please follow this listing for updates.

Featuring a wide variety of scientific specimens from the museum's collections of birds, mammals, insects and fossils, The Science of Flight exhibit provides an in-depth look into the many different methods animals take to the air and how humans came to understand the mechanics of flight by studying the first masters of the air: birds, bats, reptiles and insects!

To celebrate the exhibit's opening day, the museum is hosting The Science of Flight Festival, with special one-day-only, flight-themed offerings, including live birds of prey!
