October 20, 2018
Time: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Join us for the Dragon Festival at VMNH on Saturday, October 20. Learn about the connections between natural history and dragon lore across the world.

This festival will include a variety of displays, hands-on activities, fascinating presentations, delicious foods and much more. Meet the Vikings of the Valley and learn about their armor and weaponry.  Enjoy face painting, balloon animals, and much more.

Additional activities and displays will highlight:

  • Carboniferous fossil plants (the central natural history/biology piece of this hypothesis!)
  • Dragons around the World
  • Dragons in Folklore
  • Dragons in Art
  • Dragons in Science – dragonflies, ecology of fire, Carboniferous forests, geology, lycopods, and more
  • Medieval culture and it's influence on dragon lore

Additional details will be announced in the coming months. Learn more about the Dragon Research Collaborative, which spawned the idea for this one-of-a-kind festival:
