On Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the museum will host Dragon Festival, offering visitors a Renaissance Fair atmosphere where they will explore the lore of dragons, the impact these creatures have had on cultures across the globe, and the science behind the growth and dissemination of their myth.
Saturdays at the Virginia Museum of Natural History are about to get a little bit more special, when the museum kicks-off its "Special Saturdays" programming on October 13, which offers visitors the opportunity to go on guided tours of the museum's scientific labs and collections areas, as well as participate in additional educational programming.
The Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission (TRRC) recently awarded a $75,000 grant to the Virginia Museum of Natural History Foundation for construction of the VMNH Outdoor Education Pavilion, a multi-use covered structure with exhibit materials interpreting the natural features and forest ecology of adjacent J. Frank Wilson Memorial Park.
