Dr. Denny Casey skypes with girl scouts in NY, MD, and VA, all the while connected to the JOIDES Resolution research vessel docked in Costa Rica. Scouts got a real time tour of the ship and its research capabilities. Cool trips out to sea so they can punch holes in the bottom of the ocean to do all types of rock and sediment analyses!

Over 100 people RSVP'd for the event that gave guests the chance to network and receive a sneak-peek at the museum's upcoming special exhibits, Dinosaurs and Dinosaur Discovery, set to open January 12. A Triceratops skull being loaded onto the truck for its trip from the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh to the Virginia Museum of Natural History. This and several other large dinosaur displays (in the crates at the back of this picture) will be on display as part of the "Dinosaurs" and "Dinosaur Discovery" exhibits opening January 12 at VMNH!
