Dr. Kal Ivanov (sunglasses), assistant curator of invertebrate zoology at VMNH, along with fellow entomologist, Dr. Art Evans, VMNH Board of Trustees and research associate, are at Pilot Mountain State Park in North Carolina today. They are taking part in a "bioblitz" - an effort to inventory as many species as possible within the boundaries of the park.

We had a blast hosting our second-ever Adult Curator Camp today at the museum! Particpants from as far away as Maryland and South Carolina came to camp to get a glimpse into what it's like to be a museum curator for the day. Campers had the chance to learn from experts in the fields of archaeology, entomology, paleontology, mammalogy, and geology. VMNH archaeologist Dr. Moore made a "quick" trip to D.C. and back to rescue an archaeology collection in need of a home. Some boxes are more artifacts from sites we already have, some are new to us. We can't wait to see what's in all those boxes. Volunteers will be needed to help process and curate the collections.
