The museum is pleased to announce that the temporary Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops displays, which were originally scheduled to be removed from exhibit on February 29, will remain on exhibit through mid-March due to a shipping delay. An exact new last day for the displays will be announced as soon as the date is confirmed.

Don't miss the museum's next "2nd Thursday Science Talk" on Thursday, March 10 at 6 p.m. (FREE admission provided by generous donations of all sizes to the VMNH Foundation Discovery Fund). Dr. Charles P. Egeland, Assistant Professor of Biological Anthropology and Paleoanthropology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, will present "A Neandertal's perspective on the existence of 'Races' among modern humans." We are pleased to share that Ryan Barber, deputy director of the Virginia Museum of Natural History, is one of 19 advancement professionals appointed to the Communications and Marketing Committee of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) by the AFP's Board of Directors. The 19 appointees to this international committee represent 7 states and 3 countries. The AFP represents more than 30,000 members in over 230 chapters throughout the world, working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. Congratulations, Ryan!

Tickets are available for purchase now for the "Grapes & Grains" gala on April 9, with event proceeds directly benefiting vital museum programs in Research, Education and Exhibits. Individual tickets are $50 each, and table sponsorships are available (individual ticket purchasers can also partner to reserve a table). This fun event will feature live music and a variety of delicious foods, including new Thai, Indian, Bulgarian and German foods this year. Enjoy regional wines and craft beers, and learn the science behind whisky at the VMNH curator-led tasting station.
