Approximately 100 students from Magna Vista's 9th grade Warrior Tech Accademy visited VMNH on Thursday, August 29. As part of their coursework, the students are embarking on a study of early man and the museum has issued a challenge to the students of the Academy to research and develop an online exhibit focusing on the archaeological studies of the culture of Paleolithic and Neolithc Man. As part of the challenge, the students were at the museum to get a better understanding of this topic and will return to the museum on September 27th to present their online exhibits. The museum has a full calendar of exhibits, events and programs during the coming year, with a fall schedule packed with a variety of fun events. Team slots and sponsorships are still available for the Sept. 6 Golf Tournament, and we are looking forward to the kickoff of the "2nd Thursday Science Talks" with a presentation by Dr. Joe Keiper on Sept. 12 (RSVP today!). The Virginia Museum of Natural History recently completed its 2013 Summer Camps, with this year as the most successful ever thanks to VMNH Corporate Partner support. • VMNH staff served 205 students in 17 separate camps. • Funding support provided 63 full student scholarships. • VMNH staff conducted a variety of additional camps with community partners.
