The Virginia Museum of Natural History coordinates the annual Virginia Science Institute for STEM Education, begun in 2011. VSISE is the next generation of the award-winning Virginia Science Standards Institutes (VSSI), with support from the Virginia Department of Education, and in partnership with a number of regional organizations, state agencies, and STEM-related businesses. This week-long summer learning experience is for second through fifth grade teachers and is designed to closely support the Science SOL, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, and provide detailed training, print, and hands-on resources on the SOL and STEM content and skills. Cast your vote for the Virginia Museum of Natural History as BEST NATURE & OUTDOOR MUSEUM for the Southwestern Virginia region in the Best of Virginia Survey 2012. The survey consists of several categories, but you are not required to complete every question. However, you must complete at least 30 questions to be entered into a drawing for an iPad. Voting ends on February 10, with the results to be published in a special 2012 Best of Virginia issue of Virginia Living Magazine due out in May. Please share this with your friends and family!

My 4 year old son loves going to the museum. The exhibits are educational, interactive and kid-friendly.
